Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of public works departments including water, wastewater, and transportation divisions
- Develop and implement infrastructure maintenance plans with $50M+ annual budgets
- Coordinate emergency response for public works incidents during weather events
- Lead cross-functional teams of engineers, technicians, and administrative staff
- Ensure compliance with federal/state regulations (EPA, OSHA, DOT)
- Manage vendor contracts and procurement for public works projects
- Analyze operational data to drive efficiency improvements
- Represent the city in regional infrastructure planning coalitions
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 5 years experience in municipal public works operations
- PMP or PE certification required
- Proven budget management experience with public funds
- Expert knowledge of Colorado water rights and transportation regulations
- Strong crisis management and emergency response leadership
- Excellent stakeholder communication skills (public, council, staff)
- Valid Colorado driver's license
