Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of public works crews including road maintenance, sanitation, and park infrastructure
- Coordinate emergency response for weather-related incidents (snow removal, flooding)
- Manage project budgets and resources for infrastructure improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and Kansas Department of Transportation standards
- Train and evaluate staff performance while implementing safety protocols
- Prepare reports for city council and state regulatory bodies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in municipal public works operations
- Kansas Class A Wastewater Operator certification or equivalent
- Valid Kansas Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Strong knowledge of ADA compliance and federal infrastructure standards
- Experience with GIS mapping and public works software (e.g., Cityworks)
- Ability to obtain FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) certification within 6 months
