Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery including street sweepers, snowplows, and utility vehicles
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on public infrastructure
- Respond to emergency service calls for storm drainage and road hazards
- Coordinate with engineering teams on public improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety protocols and environmental regulations
- Document work activities using digital reporting systems
- Train junior staff on equipment operation and safety procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree preferred
- Valid Tennessee Commercial Driver's License (Class A/B)
- Minimum 2 years heavy equipment operation experience
- Certification in public works safety management (IPS preferred)
- Ability to work variable shifts including nights, weekends, and weather emergencies
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Pass pre-employment physical and background check
- Tennessee residency required within 90 days of hire
