Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on city roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate heavy equipment including backhoes, dump trucks, and street sweepers
- Respond to emergency stormwater and infrastructure issues
- Conduct field inspections and document work using digital reporting tools
- Collaborate with engineering teams on public improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and city regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred
- 2+ years experience in public works or construction maintenance
- Valid North Carolina Class B CDL license
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification
- Ability to operate heavy machinery safely
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work in variable weather conditions
