Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections of public infrastructure including roads, bridges, and drainage systems
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery such as excavators, loaders, and street sweepers
- Respond to emergency service calls for infrastructure damage and storm-related issues
- Document work activities using digital reporting systems and maintain accurate field records
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and DC municipal regulations
- Participate in snow removal operations during winter weather emergencies
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in civil engineering or related field preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience in municipal construction or public works maintenance
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B or higher
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Proficiency with GPS equipment and digital work order systems
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in all weather conditions
- Must pass background check and drug screening
- First Aid/CPR certification required
