Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, and repair county roads, drainage systems, and public facilities
- Operate heavy machinery including excavators, dump trucks, and asphalt rollers
- Coordinate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Document maintenance activities and prepare detailed technical reports
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations
- Respond to emergency public works incidents after hours/on-call rotation
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in civil engineering or related field preferred
- 3+ years experience in public works, construction, or infrastructure maintenance
- Valid Virginia Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification required
- Proficiency with GIS mapping and maintenance software
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in all weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
