Responsibilities
- Collect, empty, and transport residential and commercial refuse and recyclables efficiently.
- Operate heavy refuse trucks and related equipment safely, adhering to all traffic laws and safety protocols.
- Perform routine pre-trip and post-trip inspections of collection vehicles and report mechanical issues immediately.
- Secure loads and ensure proper disposal of waste to prevent littering and environmental hazards.
- Clear debris and maintain collection zones during and after inclement weather events.
- Interact professionally with residents, businesses, and fellow City employees.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and OSHA regulations while on duty.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
- Valid Georgia Class C Driver's License; Class B with CDL is a plus.
- Ability to lift, carry, and push materials weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday.
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, rain, and cold.
- Good physical stamina, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Ability to pass a post-offer drug screen and criminal background check.
- Strong commitment to public service and community safety.
