Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced statistical analysis and data modeling to support city planning, budgeting, and policy initiatives.
- Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and visualizations using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or SQL Server Reporting Services.
- Collaborate with departmental stakeholders to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and gather specific data requirements.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with federal, state, and local government data privacy regulations.
- Prepare clear, concise, and data-driven reports for city council members, department directors, and the general public.
- Identify data gaps and implement strategies for data collection and cleansing to improve overall data quality.
- Train non-technical staff on data interpretation and the use of reporting tools to foster a data-centric culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Public Administration, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a similar analytical role.
- Proficiency in SQL for database querying and management is mandatory.
- Experience with data visualization platforms (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with government reporting standards and compliance requirements (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA, or local open data laws) is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex datasets into understandable narratives for diverse audiences.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
