Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex IT systems and software applications to support state operations.
- Analyze complex data requirements to support state-level policy decisions and improve operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, project managers, and external vendors, to ensure project milestones are met.
- Ensure strict compliance with state and federal cybersecurity standards, data privacy laws (CCPA/GDPR), and IT governance frameworks.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular system audits and risk assessments to mitigate potential security vulnerabilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in information technology, preferably within the public sector or a large government organization.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or SQL, and experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
- Strong understanding of ITIL frameworks, cloud computing technologies (AWS/Azure), and enterprise architecture.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical jargon into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
- Valid California Driver’s License and a clean driving record (required for travel to various state facilities).
