Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls, ensuring high availability and security.
- Oversee the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware and software systems for city departments.
- Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans to protect sensitive government data.
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to comply with federal and state regulations (FISMA, HIPAA).
- Provide advanced technical support and guidance to end-users and junior staff members.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
- Document technical procedures, network diagrams, and system configurations for knowledge transfer.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, network administration, or cybersecurity.
- Professional certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or Cisco CCNP are highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking, Windows Server, Linux, and cloud technologies (Azure/AWS).
- Proven experience with network security protocols, VPNs, and access control management.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
