Responsibilities
- System Administration: Oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and optimization of server infrastructure, virtualization environments, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).
- Network Security: Implement and monitor security protocols to protect sensitive government data against cyber threats and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Project Management: Lead IT projects from conception through deployment, including hardware upgrades, software implementations, and network expansion.
- Technical Support: Serve as the primary point of escalation for complex technical issues, providing expert guidance to junior staff and internal stakeholders.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate technical documentation, including network diagrams, standard operating procedures, and incident reports.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in IT systems administration, network engineering, or a related technical role within a public sector or enterprise environment.
- Certifications: Professional certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect are highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash), virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), and Windows Server/Linux administration.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
