Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of complex IT projects within the public sector, ensuring alignment with the City’s strategic goals.
- Manage cross-functional teams, including developers, analysts, and stakeholders, to ensure clear communication and successful project milestones.
- Apply proven methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall) to mitigate risks, resolve conflicts, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local government regulations, including ITIL standards and procurement protocols.
- Prepare and present detailed status reports, financial forecasts, and risk assessments to senior leadership and the City Council.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by implementing process enhancements and best practices across the IT division.
- Act as the primary point of contact for external vendors and partners, managing contracts and performance expectations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in IT project management, with a significant portion of experience within the public sector or large government contracts.
- Proven experience managing projects with budgets exceeding $1M and large, diverse cross-functional teams.
- Professional Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification is required.
- Strong proficiency in project management tools such as Jira, Microsoft Project, and Smartsheet.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences and government officials.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Public Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
- Fluency in English and Spanish is highly preferred due to the diverse demographics of Los Angeles.
