Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage the District's state government network infrastructure during off-hours to ensure 24/7 uptime and security.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and resolution of complex hardware, software, and network issues for internal government agencies.
- Conduct nightly security audits and patch management to protect sensitive government data from cyber threats.
- Respond to emergency alerts and IT service tickets escalated during the night shift with high urgency.
- Collaborate with the day shift team to document issues and ensure seamless handover of operational status.
- Maintain accurate logs of all system activities and incidents occurring during the night shift.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; OR 5+ years of progressive IT experience in a government or large enterprise environment.
- Active Secret or Top Secret Security Clearance (preferred for DC state government roles).
- Proven experience in network administration, system administration, or IT support.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, server maintenance, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Ability to work independently and autonomously during night shifts with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting technical status.
