Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily administration of the state pension plan, including member record maintenance and benefit calculations.
- Ensure strict compliance with the Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS) statutes and ERISA regulations.
- Conduct thorough audits of pension accounts to ensure accuracy and prevent fraud.
- Process retirement applications, medical termination requests, and death benefits with high precision.
- Provide expert guidance and support to retirees and employees regarding pension eligibility and payout options.
- Collaborate with the finance department to forecast long-term pension liabilities and funding requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pension administration, actuarial science, or government benefits management.
- Strong working knowledge of ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act) and state-specific retirement laws.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (pivot tables, vlookups) and advanced financial modeling software.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a proven track record of error-free data processing.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-experts.
