Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and process complex pension calculations and disbursements in strict compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Conduct thorough audits of employee records to ensure 100% accuracy in contribution data and beneficiary information.
- Provide exceptional customer service and technical support to retirees and staff regarding retirement inquiries and benefit projections.
- Collaborate with the finance department to reconcile monthly pension fund statements and ensure solvency.
- Update pension plan documentation and communicate policy changes to stakeholders clearly and effectively.
- Analyze trends in retirement participation to recommend process improvements and cost-saving measures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in public sector benefits administration or a defined benefit pension plan is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) regulations and compliance standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and specialized HRIS or pension administration software (e.g., SAP, Workday).
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and a high level of integrity.
- Valid California Driver's License (required for occasional site visits).
