Responsibilities
- Manage Pension Calculations: Oversee the accurate processing and calculation of monthly pension benefits for thousands of retirees and active employees.
- Compliance & Auditing: Conduct regular internal audits of pension records to ensure strict adherence to state and federal regulations (ERISA, FICA).
- Policy Development: Update and maintain pension plan documentation, member handbooks, and internal procedures.
- Retiree Support: Serve as the subject matter expert for HR staff and retirees regarding eligibility requirements and benefit structures.
- System Optimization: Collaborate with IT teams to troubleshoot and enhance the state pension management software.
- Stakeholder Communication: Draft correspondence and presentations for the Board of Trustees and government oversight committees.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in government pension administration, actuarial science, or benefits management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access) and experience with SAP or similar HR/Pension software.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of state retirement laws and ERISA compliance standards.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial data to non-technical audiences.
- Remote Work: Proven ability to work autonomously and maintain productivity in a remote environment.
