Responsibilities
- Administer complex pension plans for state employees including benefit calculations, distributions, and compliance reporting
- Analyze financial data to forecast pension liabilities and recommend investment strategy adjustments
- Develop and implement retirement plan policies aligned with state regulations and industry best practices
- Collaborate with legal teams on fiduciary responsibilities and regulatory compliance matters
- Lead member education workshops on retirement planning and pension options
- Oversee pension fund operations including record-keeping and vendor management
- Prepare comprehensive reports for stakeholders including the State Treasurer and retirement board
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of pension plan administration or retirement fund management experience
- Strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS regulations, and California pension statutes
- Advanced proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Sungard)
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or Society of Actuaries (SOA) designation
- Exceptional analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial data
- Proven experience presenting to regulatory bodies and executive stakeholders
