Responsibilities
- Analyze emerging financial trends and regulatory developments to inform policy recommendations
- Research and draft legislation, regulations, and policy guidance documents
- Coordinate stakeholder engagement through public hearings, roundtables, and working groups
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for executive leadership and legislative bodies
- Monitor implementation of new policies and assess their effectiveness
- Collaborate with legal teams to ensure regulatory compliance and enforcement mechanisms
- Represent the department at industry conferences and intergovernmental forums
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Policy, Economics, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5 years of policy analysis or regulatory experience in financial services
- Expertise in financial markets, consumer protection, or regulatory compliance
- Exceptional research, writing, and analytical skills with attention to detail
- Proven ability to synthesize complex information for diverse audiences
- Strong stakeholder management and public speaking experience
- Familiarity with New York State government processes and regulatory frameworks
- Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
