Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive facility inspections (restaurants, schools, childcare centers) ensuring compliance with state and federal health codes
- Lead emergency response investigations during disease outbreaks and environmental hazards
- Develop and deliver public health education programs to community stakeholders
- Collaborate with cross-agency teams on public health initiatives and policy enforcement
- Maintain detailed inspection reports and recommend corrective actions
- Train junior inspectors on regulatory procedures and safety protocols
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Environmental Science, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of regulatory inspection experience in government or public sector
- Certified Public Health Inspector (CPHI) or equivalent state certification
- Strong knowledge of MA Sanitary Code and federal OSHA regulations
- Exceptional communication skills for community engagement and conflict resolution
- Valid Massachusetts driver's license with clean record
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends for emergency response
