Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of food establishments, childcare facilities, and public swimming pools
- Investigate public health complaints and enforce regulatory compliance
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Provide public education on health regulations and best practices
- Collaborate with cross-agency teams during emergency response situations
- Testify in legal proceedings regarding regulatory violations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health or related field
- Minimum 3 years of public health inspection experience
- Valid Florida Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) license
- Strong knowledge of FDA Food Code and Florida sanitation regulations
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Certification in Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) preferred
