Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies for city departments and major initiatives
- Serve as primary media liaison, press conferences, and interview coordination
- Manage official city social media channels and digital content platforms
- Produce press releases, reports, and multimedia materials aligned with city goals
- Oversee crisis communication protocols during emergencies and sensitive situations
- Collaborate with community stakeholders to amplify public outreach programs
- Analyze communication metrics and optimize strategies for maximum impact
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field
- 5+ years of professional communications experience, including 2+ in government/public sector
- Proven expertise in media relations, crisis communication, and social media management
- Exceptional writing, editing, and public speaking skills with portfolio samples
- Experience with CMS platforms, Adobe Creative Suite, and analytics tools
- Valid California driver's license and ability to work flexible hours including evenings/weekends
- Knowledge of Fresno County demographics and community dynamics preferred
