Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies for city departments and major initiatives
- Serve as primary media liaison, handling press inquiries and managing press conferences
- Create compelling content including press releases, speeches, social media campaigns, and web updates
- Oversee crisis communication protocols and coordinate emergency public messaging
- Analyze public sentiment and adjust communication strategies based on community feedback
- Manage digital communications channels including website, social media, and email campaigns
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of progressive communications experience, preferably in government or public sector
- Proven track record of managing successful media relations and crisis communications
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with ability to adapt tone for diverse audiences
- Strong understanding of digital communication tools and social media analytics
- Experience with content management systems and government website protocols
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
- Valid Ohio driver's license and willingness to travel to city facilities as needed
