Responsibilities
- Develop and execute multi-channel communication strategies for city initiatives
- Act as primary media liaison during public emergencies and policy announcements
- Create compelling content for digital platforms, press releases, and public forums
- Analyze public sentiment data to refine messaging and engagement tactics
- Coordinate with 15+ city departments to ensure consistent brand voice
- Manage crisis communication protocols and rapid response protocols
- Train department spokespeople on effective public messaging
- Oversee social media analytics and performance reporting
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of professional experience in government/public sector communications
- Proven crisis management experience with media and public stakeholders
- Advanced proficiency in digital analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Sprout Social)
- Portfolio demonstrating strategic campaign execution across platforms
- Valid Texas driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings/weekends for events
- Spanish bilingual proficiency preferred
