Responsibilities
- Lead design, planning, and execution of complex public infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, and drainage systems
- Manage project budgets exceeding $5M with rigorous cost control and resource allocation
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies (Caltrans, EPA, AQMD) to ensure compliance
- Mentor junior engineers and supervise technical staff
- Develop engineering reports, specifications, and contract documents
- Implement sustainable infrastructure solutions aligned with Long Beach's Climate Action Plan
- Utilize AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and GIS technologies for project delivery
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
- Minimum 5 years of progressive public works engineering experience
- Valid California Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience with municipal infrastructure projects and public procurement processes
- Strong knowledge of CA environmental regulations and permitting requirements
- Proven project management skills with PMP certification preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- CPR/First Aid certification within 6 months of hire
