What You Will Do
- Architecture & Design: Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable software solutions using microservices and cloud-native architectures.
- Code Leadership: Conduct rigorous code reviews, define technical standards, and mentor junior developers to ensure code quality and maintainability.
- System Optimization: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in legacy systems, modernizing them for improved user experience and speed.
- Security & Compliance: Implement robust security protocols ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and best practices.
- Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams, including project managers, stakeholders, and system administrators, to deliver on-time projects.
- Documentation: Create comprehensive technical documentation, API specifications, and architectural diagrams.
Who You Are
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of professional software engineering experience in a government or enterprise environment.
- Tech Stack: Proficiency in Java, Python, or C#; experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues independently.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for translating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement scalable web applications and APIs using modern frameworks.
- Oversee the software development lifecycle (SDLC) including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, and deployment.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and security of county-wide IT systems.
- Drive the adoption of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Maintain and upgrade existing legacy codebases to support current business requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, preferably within the public sector or large enterprise.
- Strong proficiency in Java, Python, JavaScript, or C#.
- Experience with AWS or similar cloud services.
- Deep understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
