Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive neighborhood revitalization plans aligned with Detroit's strategic vision
- Analyze zoning regulations and land use policies to recommend evidence-based improvements
- Lead public engagement initiatives, conducting community workshops and stakeholder consultations
- Prepare and present detailed development proposals to city council and planning committees
- Collaborate with engineering, transportation, and environmental departments on integrated planning
- Manage grant applications and oversee compliance with federal/state funding requirements
- Conduct demographic and economic impact analyses for proposed developments
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field (Bachelor's with 5+ years experience considered)
- Minimum 3 years of urban planning experience in municipal government setting
- Expertise in zoning laws, land use regulations, and Michigan planning statutes
- Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS) and urban planning modeling tools
- Strong quantitative and qualitative research abilities with data interpretation skills
- Proven experience leading community engagement and public presentation
- Valid Michigan driver's license and ability to travel across city districts
