Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive urban planning projects including zoning updates, neighborhood revitalization, and transit-oriented development
- Facilitate community engagement through public hearings, workshops, and stakeholder collaboration
- Analyze demographic, economic, and environmental data to inform planning decisions
- Prepare and present planning documents including reports, ordinances, and development proposals
- Coordinate with city departments, state agencies, and private developers to ensure project alignment
- Review development applications for compliance with Minneapolis 2040 Plan and zoning regulations
- Manage planning budgets and oversee consultant contracts for specialized studies
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive urban planning experience in municipal government
- Professional Planner (AICP) certification strongly preferred
- Expertise in GIS mapping software and urban planning analytics tools
- Demonstrated experience with community engagement and public speaking
- Deep knowledge of Minnesota land use regulations and Minneapolis zoning codes
- Strong project management skills with ability to handle multiple concurrent projects
