Job Overview
We are looking for hardworking individuals to perform routine maintenance and construction activities on state highways and rights-of-way. This role plays a crucial part in keeping Texas roads safe and accessible for the public.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, repair, and cleaning of state highways, bridges, and rights-of-way.
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery and equipment, including mowers, sweepers, and graders.
- Spray herbicides, fertilizers, and paint on roadways and signs according to safety guidelines.
- Assist in traffic control operations and flagging duties to ensure worker and public safety.
- Inspect road conditions and report necessary repairs or hazards to supervisors.
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Adhere to all TxDOT safety regulations and departmental policies at all times.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred but not always required for entry-level.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to pass a post-offer physical examination, including drug screening and background check.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat and rain.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
