Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of state park facilities, trails, and campgrounds to ensure visitor safety and resource protection.
- Respond to emergencies, accidents, and medical incidents, providing immediate assistance and coordinating with emergency services.
- Interact with park visitors to provide information, issue permits, and resolve conflicts or complaints professionally.
- Enforce state laws, regulations, and park rules, issuing citations when necessary and educating the public on compliance.
- Assist in the maintenance and operation of park facilities, including restrooms, visitor centers, and recreational equipment.
- Maintain accurate incident reports, logbooks, and other administrative documentation.
- Collaborate with community groups and volunteers to promote conservation efforts and park programs.
Qualifications
- Minimum age of 21 years old at the time of appointment.
- Valid California Class C Driver’s License and a safe driving record.
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED); Associate’s degree or higher in Parks and Recreation, Criminal Justice, or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to pass a thorough background investigation, drug screening, and medical examination.
- Physical agility: Ability to hike long distances, climb stairs, and perform duties in various weather conditions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts as required by park operations.
