Key Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of state pension funds, ensuring that all member data is accurate and compliant with federal and state regulations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day administration of state pension plans, ensuring all member contributions and withdrawals are processed accurately and timely.
- Analyze actuarial data and financial reports to forecast pension liabilities and ensure the long-term sustainability of the fund.
- Ensure strict compliance with federal regulations (ERISA), state statutes, and internal government policies.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for member inquiries regarding retirement eligibility, benefits calculations, and claim processing.
- Collaborate with the HR and Finance departments to develop and update retirement plan documentation and communications.
- Conduct internal audits and quality assurance reviews to identify and rectify errors in benefit calculations.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial summaries to state oversight committees.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Accounting, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in government pension administration, public sector finance, or actuarial analysis.
- Strong working knowledge of ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act) and state retirement laws.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and experience with ERPs or HRIS systems.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive financial information with the highest level of confidentiality and ethics.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-experts.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced government environment with strict deadlines.
