Responsibilities
- Administer pension plans for 500+ state employees ensuring compliance with ERISA and California regulations
- Process retirement applications, benefit calculations, and survivor claims with 99.8% accuracy
- Conduct annual audits of pension records and financial statements
- Develop educational materials for pre-retirees covering investment strategies and benefit options
- Collaborate with legal counsel on pension legislation updates and policy changes
- Manage vendor relationships for investment administration and record-keeping systems
- Present quarterly pension reports to state oversight committees
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of pension administration or benefits management experience
- Strong knowledge of California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) regulations
- Advanced proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Oracle HCM)
- Series 65 or 66 investment advisor certification preferred
- Experience with multi-state pension plan compliance
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to financial detail
- Valid California driver's license for occasional travel to satellite offices
