Responsibilities
- Operate X-ray machines and walk-through metal detectors to screen passengers and carry-on luggage for prohibited items
- Conduct thorough physical pat-down searches and baggage inspections following TSA protocols
- Monitor security checkpoints and identify potential threats through behavioral observation techniques
- Communicate effectively with passengers regarding security procedures while maintaining a professional demeanor
- Document security incidents and maintain accurate screening records
- Collaborate with law enforcement and airport personnel during emergency situations
- Stay updated on TSA policies and emerging security threats through continuous training
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship required
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Ability to pass a background investigation and drug screening
- Valid state driver's license
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Basic computer proficiency for equipment operation
- Strong communication skills in English
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
