Responsibilities
- Screen passengers and carry-on luggage using X-ray machines, metal detectors, and advanced imaging technology to detect prohibited items and potential threats
- Conduct thorough pat-down searches and baggage inspections according to TSA protocols and security directives
- Operate security equipment including ETD (Explosive Trace Detection) machines and CT scanners with precision and efficiency
- Provide exceptional customer service to diverse travelers while maintaining security standards and enforcing federal regulations
- Document security incidents, suspicious activities, and screening outcomes through TSA reporting systems
- Collaborate with law enforcement and airport personnel during emergency situations and security breaches
- Maintain security checkpoint integrity by following TSA Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship required
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently
- Pass rigorous background investigation and drug screening
- Successfully complete TSA's 9-week training program at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC)
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and stand for extended periods in high-stress environments
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
