Responsibilities
- Screen passengers and carry-on baggage using advanced X-ray technology and manual detection techniques to identify prohibited items
- Conduct thorough pat-down searches and body scans according to TSA protocols
- Monitor security checkpoints and respond to suspicious activity with appropriate escalation procedures
- Operate electronic security equipment including metal detectors, trace detection systems, and explosive detection devices
- Provide clear instructions and excellent customer service to travelers during the screening process
- Document security incidents and screening activities using standardized reporting systems
- Collaborate with law enforcement and airport personnel to maintain secure operations
- Participate in continuous training to stay updated on emerging threats and security procedures
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship is mandatory
- Minimum age of 18 years old at the time of appointment
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation and drug screening
- Must obtain and maintain a Transportation Security Clearance (TSA)
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 70 pounds
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in high-pressure situations
- Effective communication skills and ability to interact professionally with diverse populations
