Responsibilities
- Screen passengers and baggage using advanced TSA-provided equipment including X-ray scanners, metal detectors, and explosive trace detection systems
- Conduct thorough pat-down searches and baggage inspections following TSA protocols
- Monitor security checkpoints and identify potential threats through behavioral observation techniques
- Operate and maintain specialized screening equipment with regular calibration checks
- Provide clear instructions to passengers regarding security procedures while maintaining professionalism
- Document security incidents and maintain accurate logs of screening activities
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies during emergency situations
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residency status
- High school diploma or equivalent GED certificate
- Ability to pass extensive background investigation and drug screening
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 70 pounds
- Basic computer literacy for operating screening equipment systems
- Excellent communication skills in English (additional languages valued)
- No prior felony convictions or certain misdemeanor offenses
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
