Responsibilities
- Screen Passengers and Baggage: Utilize advanced imaging technology and physical screening methods to detect prohibited items in carry-on luggage and on passengers to ensure the safety of the airport environment.
- Operate Security Equipment: Expertly operate X-ray machines, CT scanners, and metal detectors, interpreting complex images to identify threats accurately and efficiently.
- Enforce Security Regulations: Apply TSA security policies, directives, and procedures consistently to maintain a secure checkpoint area.
- Customer Service: Assist travelers with disabilities and special needs, providing clear instructions and maintaining a professional, calm demeanor during high-volume periods.
- Problem Solving: Detect and resolve discrepancies in passenger identification or travel documents, ensuring compliance with federal regulations.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with fellow screeners and supervisors to ensure smooth operations and support the overall team mission.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required.
- U.S. Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or national.
- Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Background Check: Must successfully pass a background check, including a criminal history review and drug screening.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), and meet specific vision and mobility requirements (corrected vision acceptable).
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Professionalism: Must be able to maintain composure in stressful situations and adhere to a professional appearance and grooming standards.
