Responsibilities
- Screen passengers, carry-on baggage, and cargo using X-ray machines, walk-through metal detectors, and advanced imaging technology.
- Enforce security regulations and protocols to prevent unauthorized items from entering secure areas.
- Identify potential threats, prohibited items, and anomalies through visual inspection and screening equipment.
- Communicate effectively with the traveling public to explain screening procedures, answer inquiries, and resolve conflicts calmly.
- Work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure 24/7 security coverage.
- Collaborate with team members to maintain an efficient and safe checkpoint environment.
- Document all screening activities, alerts, and incidents accurately in accordance with federal guidelines.
Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate.
- Ability to pass a federal background investigation, including fingerprinting, drug screening, and medical evaluation.
- Excellent vision (corrected if necessary) and physical ability to stand, walk, stoop, and lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs) for extended periods.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure in high-volume, fast-paced environments.
- Basic computer literacy and the ability to learn security screening software and equipment.
