Responsibilities
- Screen passengers and carry-on baggage using X-ray machines, metal detectors, and manual search techniques
- Operate advanced security technology to identify prohibited items and potential threats
- Conduct thorough pat-down searches and baggage inspections as required by TSA protocols
- Maintain constant vigilance while monitoring security checkpoints for suspicious behavior
- Provide clear instructions to travelers regarding security procedures and prohibited items
- Document security incidents and report anomalies to supervisory staff
- Collaborate with law enforcement and airport personnel during emergency situations
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship (required by federal law)
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation and drug screening
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 70 pounds
- Proficient in English (written and verbal communication)
- Ability to obtain and maintain TSA certification through paid training
- Willingness to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
