Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough passenger and baggage screening using X-ray machines, metal detectors, and manual search techniques
- Operate advanced security equipment while maintaining strict adherence to TSA protocols
- Perform pat-down searches and explosive trace detection as required
- Verify travel documents and boarding passes against passenger identities
- Identify and report suspicious items, behaviors, or security threats
- Maintain orderly checkpoint operations during high-volume periods
- Document security incidents and screening activities accurately
- Collaborate with law enforcement and airport personnel during emergency situations
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship required
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to pass extensive background check and security clearance
- Successfully complete TSA's paid training program (no prior experience needed)
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods in fast-paced environments
- Strong communication skills for interacting with diverse travelers
- Ability to handle stressful situations with composure and professionalism
- Must be willing to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
