Responsibilities
- Screen passengers and carry-on baggage for prohibited items using X-ray machines, metal detectors, and manual search techniques
- Conduct thorough pat-down searches and baggage inspections to ensure compliance with TSA security protocols
- Operate advanced security technology including CT scanners, trace detection equipment, and explosive detection systems
- Monitor security checkpoints and respond to potential threats or suspicious activities with appropriate escalation procedures
- Provide clear communication to travelers regarding security procedures while maintaining professional demeanor under pressure
- Document security incidents and maintain accurate records of screening activities
- Collaborate with law enforcement and airport personnel during security operations
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship (required)
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED accepted)
- Ability to pass comprehensive background investigation and drug screening
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 70 pounds
- Basic computer literacy and ability to learn security systems software
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Valid state driver's license (if operating airport vehicles)
