Responsibilities
- Oversee the end-to-end administration of Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) and Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) pension plans.
- Perform complex pension calculations and ensure all benefit disbursements comply with federal regulations and agency policies.
- Review and audit retirement applications, service credit claims, and benefit statements for accuracy.
- Provide expert consultation to federal employees regarding eligibility, vesting, and payout options.
- Collaborate with the HR team to resolve benefit discrepancies and address employee inquiries efficiently.
- Stay updated on changes in federal legislation impacting pension plans and implement necessary process adjustments.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive employee and financial data at all times.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Human Resources (or equivalent experience in government benefits).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in federal pension administration, HR benefits, or retirement planning.
- Deep working knowledge of FERS, CSRS, and OPM (Office of Personnel Management) guidelines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for presenting complex information clearly.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines in a high-volume environment.
