Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental health inspections in restaurants, childcare facilities, and public swimming pools
- Investigate public health complaints and disease outbreaks
- Enforce state health codes and sanitation regulations
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and corrective action plans
- Provide public health education to businesses and community groups
- Collaborate with epidemiologists on disease surveillance
- Test water quality and food safety compliance
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field
- California Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) certification
- Minimum 2 years environmental health inspection experience
- Valid California driver's license with clean record
- Knowledge of California Health & Safety Codes
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings/weekends
