About the Role:
As a Senior IT Project Manager, you will oversee the full lifecycle of technology initiatives, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and budget. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and improve public services for the residents of San Jose.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage complex IT projects from initiation through closure, adhering to PMI methodologies and government regulations.
- Develop detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks to ensure successful delivery.
- Communicate project status, milestones, and blockers to stakeholders and senior management effectively.
- Facilitate agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Ensure compliance with state and local government procurement and security policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in project management within the government or public sector.
- Professional Project Management (PMP) certification or equivalent is required.
- Strong proficiency in Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Experience with Jira, MS Project, and other project management tools.
