Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on city infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, and public facilities
- Operate municipal equipment (snowplows, street sweepers, trucks) safely and efficiently
- Respond to emergency service requests during severe weather events
- Conduct inspections and document infrastructure conditions using digital reporting tools
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams on urban development projects
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal safety regulations
- Provide direct public assistance during community events and emergencies
Qualifications
- Valid Illinois Commercial Driver's License (CDL Class B) or ability to obtain within 30 days
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years' experience in construction, maintenance, or related field
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions
- Strong commitment to public service and community values
- Basic proficiency with mobile technology for reporting and documentation
- Successful completion of background check and drug screening
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
