Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of food establishments, childcare centers, and public facilities
- Investigate public health complaints and outbreaks
- Enforce health codes and regulations with detailed reporting
- Educate business owners on compliance requirements
- Collaborate with epidemiologists on disease prevention
- Prepare comprehensive inspection reports and violation notices
- Testify in administrative hearings when necessary
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field
- Minimum 3 years' regulatory inspection experience
- Certified Registered Sanitarian (CRS) or equivalent credential
- Strong knowledge of FDA Food Code and Illinois sanitation regulations
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Valid Illinois driver's license with clean record
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings/weekends
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
