Responsibilities
- Oversee all city legislative processes, including agenda preparation, minute-taking, and ordinance management
- Serve as official custodian of municipal records and public documents
- Manage city elections and voter registration with absolute integrity
- Administer oaths of office and maintain official city seals
- Coordinate with city departments and public officials to ensure compliance with public records laws
- Lead public information requests and transparency initiatives
- Develop records management systems for long-term document preservation
- Represent the city in high-stakes public hearings and community forums
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field
- 5+ years of municipal government experience with direct records management
- California Municipal Clerk certification or equivalent credential
- Expert knowledge of Brown Act, Public Records Act, and election laws
- Advanced proficiency in records management systems (e.g., Laserfiche, DocuWare)
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders
- Experience with public-facing transparency initiatives
