About the Role:
As a Courthouse Clerk, you will be the face of the court to the public. You will ensure that court operations run efficiently by managing records, assisting attorneys and judges, and maintaining the integrity of sensitive legal data.
Responsibilities
- Manage, file, and maintain accurate case files and legal documents in accordance with court procedures.
- Receive, screen, and direct visitors, attorneys, and court officials to the appropriate departments.
- Prepare, process, and distribute legal paperwork, including summonses, subpoenas, and judgments.
- Operate computer systems to update case information and perform high-speed data entry with 100% accuracy.
- Answer incoming phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide information regarding court schedules and filings.
- Assist judges and attorneys with administrative tasks, including scheduling and docket management.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all court proceedings and personal records.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or experience in legal administration is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and standard office software.
- Strong typing skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional demeanor.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities effectively.
- Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and stand for extended periods.
