Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize electronic health record (EHR) systems for 50+ VA healthcare providers
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and data security across all health information systems
- Train clinical staff on health information management best practices
- Coordinate system upgrades and troubleshoot technical issues in real-time
- Generate data analytics reports to improve veteran care outcomes
- Collaborate with IT teams to implement new health technologies
- Audit health information systems for regulatory compliance
- Lead cross-functional projects to streamline health information workflows
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, IT, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 3+ years experience with EHR systems (Epic or Cerner certification required)
- Active RHIA or RHIT credential through AHIMA
- Proficient in HIPAA regulations and healthcare data standards
- Experience with federal IT security protocols (FISMA/NIST)
- Demonstrated project management skills with complex healthcare systems
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA security clearance
- Excellent communication skills for training diverse clinical staff
