Responsibilities
- Conduct Interviews: Interview applicants to determine eligibility for various state and federal veterans' benefits.
- Pension Administration: Process and review pension applications and claims for accuracy and completeness.
- Case Management: Develop and implement individualized service plans to assist veterans in navigating complex bureaucratic processes.
- Community Outreach: Represent the city at community events, veterans' organizations, and informational sessions to promote available services.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential records of all client interactions, applications, and case statuses in our database.
- Legal Compliance: Ensure all actions comply with local, state, and federal laws regarding veterans' affairs and data privacy.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Social Work, or a related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in government customer service, social work, or veterans' affairs.
- Veteran Status: Preference given to honorably discharged veterans.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.
- Computer Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and case management software systems.
- Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills with a focus on accuracy in document review and data entry.
