Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of water mains, fire hydrants, and sewer lines.
- Operate heavy machinery, including backhoes, excavators, and skid steers, in accordance with safety protocols.
- Respond to emergency repair calls for water main breaks and sewer overflows with urgency and professionalism.
- Install and repair valves, meters, and appurtenances within the water distribution system.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with City of Omaha safety standards and OSHA regulations.
- Collaborate with other municipal departments and contractors on large-scale infrastructure projects.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Nebraska Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in utility maintenance, construction, or related fields.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic systems and excavation techniques is a plus.
- Must possess a valid driver's record and pass a background check.
